Volunteer Opportunities
The Tomball Fire Department has numerous opportunities in which area citizens may participate. TFD maintains a force of volunteer firefighters who work and train alongside our full-time and part-time staffs. For information on that program, contact Assistant Chief Jon Fontenot or Recruiting Coordinator Chris Caron at (281) 351-7101.

The department has developed a robust fire corp program that includes opportunities with the Emergency Communications Group (HAM radio operators), Fire pre-plan group that develops a computerized site plan, building plan and emergency contact information for each commercial building in the city, auxiliary group that responds to large incidents to provide water, coffee and snacks to the firefighters and refills air bottles for firefighters and a customer service group that assists residents that have been displaced by fire or other calamity. Additionally, TFD sponsors a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) that trains at the fire station and assists during large scale events or disasters and holds a Citizens Fire Academy Class at least twice a year. There is something available for anyone that has a desire to assist the Tomball Fire Department in achieving our mission.
