Visitors tour the historic Tomball Depot

Group of ladies learning about the history of the Tomball Depot

As the sun began to rise over the Lakes of Eldridge North neighborhood, a sense of anticipation filled the air. The 18 ladies of the Ladies Explorer Club were preparing for a day of adventure, their destination: the historic Tomball Depot. Led by Sarah Edwards, the club's dedicated coordinator, they gathered at the meeting point, eager to uncover the mysteries that awaited them.

Sarah, with her meticulous planning, had secured a Harris County Precinct 3 bus for transportation, ensuring a smooth journey for her fellow explorers. With excitement buzzing among them, they boarded the bus, their laughter and chatter filling the air as they embarked on their expedition.

As the bus made its way along the scenic route towards Tomball, Sarah regaled the group with tales of the Depot's rich history, setting the stage for the adventure ahead. Arriving at their destination, they were greeted by John Lockwood, the knowledgeable facilitator of their tour.

Under John's guidance, the ladies embarked on a journey through time as they explored the vintage train cars and listened to captivating stories of the past. But it was the sight of Mr. Dave operating the Golden-Blackhawk & Central City Z-scale model railroad that truly mesmerized them.

With a twinkle in his eye, Mr. Dave shared his passion for the intricate model railroad, entertaining the group with tales of its construction and the meticulous attention to detail that brought it to life. As miniature trains chugged along the tracks, weaving through tiny towns and lush landscapes, the ladies were transported to another world, their imaginations running wild with possibilities.

For the Ladies Explorer Club, the day was a testament to the power of curiosity and camaraderie. As they bid farewell to the Tomball Depot and boarded the bus once more, their hearts were full of memories that would last a lifetime. And as Sarah looked out at the smiling faces of her fellow explorers, she knew that she had succeeded in creating a day they would never forget.

The Tomball Depot is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To schedule a weekday tour, please email with your request.
