City management has decided to cancel this year’s event.
As a precautionary measure, due to concerns surrounding the Coronavirus, this year’s Honky Tonk Chili Challenge on March 21st have been cancelled. City management agonized over this decision; however, these events bring thousands of people into close proximity of one another, so we feel this is the best action, says City Manager Robert Hauck.
The event will not be rescheduled in 2020.
Coronavirus is something for which we should maintain an appropriate level of concern, however, the public at-large is still at LOW risk of contracting the virus.
Our biggest danger right now is mass hysteria, so please help by reminding folks to maintain as normal a life as possible, while taking reasonable precautions, such as:
• Wash hands often
• Don’t touch face
• Cover mouth when coughing
• Limit or cancel unnecessary travel
• Practice “social distancing” in crowds, when possible (5-6 feet)
