Tomball Archive and History Center

The Center preserves and provides access to the City’s historical municipal records along with special collections that tell the story of the greater Tomball area from its surrounding communities.

Our Mission & Values

Our mission is to preserve and provide access to records and materials that document the history, governance, and cultural heritage of our community, ensuring long-term stewardship, transparency, and public engagement.

  • Preservation - We care for collections using professional archival standards so they can be used and accessed by future generations.
  • Accountability - We responsibly steward municipal and donated materials through ethical practice, transparency, and clearly defined policies.

What We Preserve

The Center collects materials that document the social, political, cultural, and economic history of the community, including:

  • Government records of long-term historical value
  • Manuscripts, photographs, maps, and architectural records
  • Oral histories and audiovisual materials
  • Organizational and business records
  • Personal papers that reflect community life

Donating Materials

We welcome donations of historical materials that support our mission and collecting priorities. If you are considering a donation, we encourage you to contact the Historical Archivist to discuss your donation’s relevance, physical condition, and ownership or intellectual property considerations. All accepted donations are formalized through a Deed of Gift to ensure clear stewardship and long-term care. 

Research Requests

The Center is open to researchers of all experience levels by appointment. Whether you are conducting in-depth research or exploring local history for the first time, we are happy to help. Some materials may have access limitations due to preservation concerns, donor agreements, or legal restrictions. Please contact the Historical Archivist to schedule a visit or inquire about research services including:

  • On-site and digital access to archival and historical collections
  • Reference assistance from trained staff
