The Tomball Police Department Training Division is dedicated to the comprehensive development of all personnel, ensuring compliance with state-mandated training while providing additional instruction essential for proficient job performance. Our annual training regimen covers a spectrum of critical areas including Supervisory training, Legislative Policies and Procedures, Hands-on arrest and Defensive tactics training, Basic Self-Aid Buddy Aid (SABA), Bias neutralization, De-escalation tactics, Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), and Quarterly Firearms training.


We are committed to cultivating the skills and leadership capabilities of every department member, fostering collaborative relationships with external agencies and community stakeholders. Through these partnerships and ongoing educational initiatives, we not only enhance the professional growth of our officers but also contribute to community awareness and safety.

Tomball Police Department FTO Process

The training division oversees the comprehensive field training program for newly recruited officers, spanning 16-20 weeks. This intensive program ensures that officers are well-versed in the operational protocols and standards of the Tomball Police Department, enabling them to deliver exceptional service to the Tomball community. Field training encompasses a minimum of 160 hours, covering essential areas such as De-escalation, Patrol tactics, Report writing, Building searches, Reality-based training, Jail procedures, Emergency vehicle operations, and Crime scene processing.

Regular evaluations of each officer and employee ensure continuous developmental progress and alignment with the standards of excellence upheld by the Tomball Police Department.
